Joy Saville comments: "I try to title a work that refers to my emotional or intellectual state while creating it or an event or site that prompted the choice of colors. In other words, I believe a title should be provocative and expressive. Grendel refers to the Beowolf character ,as I was thinking how much the image looked like a dragon. Before my husband died, I would discuss the work and title with him as he brought another perspective. I now often do this with my son, who is a writer and teaches Creative Writing. He always asks me for my input and together we come up with a title that I'm comfortable with for a work."
