Joy Saville comments: "I try to title a work that refers to my emotional or intellectual state while creating it or an event or site that prompted the choice of colors. In other words, I believe a title should be provocative and expressive. Beside Still Water began with fabric I had purchased in Switzerland that reminded me of the color of the lake water there and became a tribute to a brother who died while I was creating it."
